HR: Your latest book My Love Lies Bleeding is a YA vamp fantasy, with so many YA Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy style books around what do you feel sets your first Drake book apart from the field?ĪH: There’s no denying there’s a glut of vampire novels out there… but I hope that my heroines stand alone. Many thanks to Alyxandra for her time and I am really looking forward to reading more from this series. I loved the book and immediately pestered Alyxandra’s lovely publicist for an interview. ![]() A few days ago I reviewed My Love Lies Bleeding, a YA vamp romance novel by Alyxandra Harvey. ![]() ![]() ![]() My husband is Robert Nemiroff, and he, too, is a writer. “I live in the Village, and the way it’s been, people sort of drop in on me and my husband. “I’m going to have some scrambled eggs, medium, because, as far as I know, I haven’t had my breakfast yet,” she went on. Miss Hansberry gave a soft, pleased laugh. What sort of happens is you just hear from everybody!” Meanwhile, it does keep you awfully busy. I’m thrilled, and all of us associated with the play are thrilled. Thomas Wolfe wrote a detailed description of it in ‘You Can’t Go Home Again.’ I must say he told the truth. ![]() Then I get a call from a stranger saying ‘This is So-and-So, of the B.B.C.’! We had a talk recently with Lorraine Hansberry, the twenty-eight-year-old author of the hit play “A Raisin in the Sun.” Miss Hansberry is a relaxed, soft-voiced young lady with an intelligent and pretty face, a particularly vertical hairdo, and large brown eyes, so dark and so deep that you get lost in them. ![]() ![]() to get out from her mother's shadow is hard, but revealing the darkest parts of his soul is nearly impossible.…įour books in and Penelope Douglas is still on a roll! The evil isn't limited to her father, but it spreads to her trying to protect the family she loves. She has an evil drunk father, and was thrown out of her home when she wouldn't abort the baby after she was raped. Rylee lives with Clint as his nanny for his daughter Rheenie. Lose yourself in Weltworth, Texas and have a cup of coffee at Rylee's house. I love her books and this is a great addition to her growing repertoire, one of the most emotional books I've read. The flavor of Texas and the allure of cowboys was as strong as ever from Ms. This is a wonderfully written story of emotions so real you can almost touch them. I couldn't put this book down as I rooted for her and felt her heartbreak. My heart bled for Rylee on every step she took. ![]() ![]() Her own insecurities plus a visit or two from her father turn her happy life into turmoil. When she gets a job as housekeeper for hunky Clint Maloney, it looks like Rylee's ship has come in. Always seeking approval she never gets, Rylee walks the straight and narrow, hoping someday things will get better. Rylee has major obstacles in her path, most brought on by a brutal abusive father. Ball's books and her strong heroines win me over immediately. I must admit I love the stubborn, handsome cowboys in Ms. ![]() ![]() What might feel stereotypical and cliché is in fact exactly the opposite. Dora runs the brothel, and Mack leads a group of guys who live in an abandoned warehouse. Lee is a Chinese-American who owns the local grocery store. Doc is a gentleman who makes a living collecting animal and plant samples for laboratories and classrooms. This is a book about people living on the outside of society, getting by with what they have. Which is not to say that life in this time and place is easy. But it’s also an ode to the natural beauty of coastal California, something that really resonated with me. I think I expected something more industrial from the title – Cannery Row refers to Monterey’s cannery district, where most of the men of this town make their living. I loved this novel about a small community in Monterey, California. ![]() |
